Unconscious Hearts (Hearts of Vegas 1) – Harper Sloan

Purchase links:

Strip club owner Thorn Evans doesn’t expect to meet the woman who will change his life when he walks into her upper end consignment store. Store owner Ari Daniels loses her entire family and the love of her life in one fateful evening. She’s spent the last seven years keeping everyone at a distance other than her best friend Piper, and he only does casual. No letting any woman think she’s going to find her happy ever after with him.

The pull between Thorn and Ari is instant and intense. Thorn’s hang ups and things he’s not willing to get past come from childhood nightmares and you feel for him and want him to be able to overcome his past, which he’s willing to try almost instantly for her. She wakes him up, makes him feel alive, and he lets us see that the instant feelings he has for Ari can heal him. Ari’s issues make you want to wrap her up an protect her from the world. The step she takes to heal herself so that she feels like she can handle all things Thorn Evans make her a heroine. However, the end is one hundred percent what makes the story. Thorn and Ari completely expose themselves to each other and let each other all the way in, and though you think you know what will happen, Harper takes it somewhere you can’t predict.

What a great love story, told as only Harper Sloan can do, and am so excited for a new series from one of my top five favorites.

End Game (Bellevue Bullies 4) – Toni Aleo

Toni Aleo hits another one out of the park with End Game!!

Bellevue Bullies hockey player Ryan Justice is all about his family, his education and his hockey career. Sofia Castilleja is a world class gymnast who’s focus is singularly on her craft, her ailing mother, and opening up her own gym once she graduates college.

One glance at Sofia and Ryan knows he’ll do whatever it takes to get to her to go out with him. Both with lofty goals and their eye one prize, they were not expecting each other. Sofia tries everything in her power to deny the pull she has to Ryan and Ryan is trying to find his stride and figure out what it will take to make his dream of playing in the NHL a reality, while convincing Sofia that they can have each other too. Little did they know they would find their biggest ally and support system in each other.

Once again Toni Aleo gives us a story that draws us in from page one. Shea Adler’s kids, nieces and nephews are all growing up, can’t wait for the rest of their stories!!!

*** ARC review ***

Single dad Griffin King’s life on the upswing. His bar and restaurant are doing well, he’s able to move to a nicer apartment for himself and his son Levi. He’s content to concentrate on raising his son Levi and is not not looking for love; his visceral reaction to meeting his new neighbor Ava, the first time, is completely unexpected.

Having been cheated on twice, taco Tuesday loving, graphic designer, Ava Milano is happy to give all of her love to her dog Maverick, the best part of her last relationship gone wrong. Her instant attraction to her new neighbor is neither wanted or appreciated.

Griffin does not let any woman he’s seeing into Levi’s life. He keeps the two parts of himself separate. With Ava he can’t understand why he has no hesitation letting her in. He quickly realizes he wants more with her, but Ava continues to keep him at arms length, ruled by her fear of being hurt again. However, these lovers have been burned before and their story is not without it’s issues.

I absolutely loved Knocked Down. Nikki Ash is on my short list of favorite authors. She is funny, witty, and sharp. Her characters are totally relatable, most often times every day people. If you haven’t read anything by her yet, here is the best reading order for her titles:

Fighting Series:

Fighting For a Second Chance

Fighting With Faith

Fighting For Your Touch

Fighting For Your Love

Fighting ‘round the Christmas Tree (novella)

Fighting Love:

Knocked Down

About the author:

Nikki Ash lives in South Florida with her two children. I had the pleasure of chatting with her and laughing about my favorite parts of Knocked Down, as I was reading it. She was so much fun to talk to, and I would love to get her out to the west coast for a signing!!!

Our Unscripted Story – L.A. Fiore

Purchase Links:

Greyson Ratcliffe lost his parents tragically and his grandfather moved him from their native Ireland to Mendocino, so he could pursue his career as an artist after high school graduation. Never did he expect to meet a girl who would change his life, but that’s exactly what he felt when he saw Alexis Owens for the first time.

Alexis Owens is a high school junior raised by foster parents who never cared. Never getting answers from them about her birth parents, and not knowing what happened to them, she’s always felt lost, until she saw Greyson Ratcliffe for the first time.

Greyson and Alexis embark upon a relationship that separates them for a few years, but neither ever lost sight of the love they shared, and when they finally get back to each other, it’s for life… Or so we thought.

I absolutely loved this book. Having never read anything by L.A. Fiore, I didn’t know what to expect. At the beginning, I actually thought that it would be a sappy love story with nothing to overcome, no angst, no work for their HEA. I was very pleasantly surprised. I loved experiencing the love between the two and taking their journey with them. Their story is proof that good things come to those who wait. It’s not without a little heartache and I may have even gotten a little teary eyed. I have no idea why it took me so long to read L.A. Fiore, but it will definitely not be my last!!!

Five ***** for sure!!!!

Bad Boy Brody – Tijan

Purchase Links:

Brody Asher is a troubled actor on location at the Kellerman estate to film a movie about an incident that tragically changed the Kellerman family forever. Morgan Kellerman is an enigma. The mysterious, elusive daughter everyone knows about but no one sees.

Brody never saw her coming, and their love isn’t a slow burn. It’s quick and hot, but how could it possibly last…?

We get to see how two people from different worlds react in in the face of tragedy, and how they each fight their way back to the living. We learn that sometimes it just takes one person, one,Moe one moment to bring you back to the living.

This is my first Tijan book, but I don’t know why it took me so long, I am an instant fan!!

This is going to be Ryan Justice’s year. It’s his last year of college and his last year as a hockey player for the Bellevue Bullies. He’s making all the plays in preparation for achieving his dream of being drafted into the NHL.

This is Sofia Castilleja’s beginning. She is starting her college career as a star member of Bellevue’s brand-new gymnastics team. She’s going to tumble her way to success, first in school and then by realizing her dream of opening her own gym.

Ryan and Sofia didn’t see each other coming, but once they meet, they can’t look away. Their dreams are destined to take them in opposite directions. But it doesn’t take them long to realize that waking up to reality together may be better than dreaming alone.

About the Author:

My name is Toni Aleo and I’m a total dork.

I am a wife, mother of two and a bulldog, and also a hopeless romantic.

I am the biggest Shea Weber fan ever, and can be found during hockey season with my nose pressed against the Bridgestone Arena’s glass, watching my Nashville Predators play!

When my nose isn’t pressed against the glass, I enjoy going to my husband and son’s hockey games, my daughter’s dance competition, hanging with my best friends, taking pictures, scrapbooking, and reading the latest romance novel.

I have a slight Disney and Harry Potter obsession, I love things that sparkle, I love the color pink, I might have been a Disney Princess in a past life… probably Belle.

… and did I mention I love hockey?

Clinched (Fighting Love 2) – Nikki Ash

Purchase Links:

Barnes and Noble

Tristan Scott is a man who wears his heart on his sleeve. Trying to stand by a girlfriend who’s addictions were more important than maintaining any kind of faithful relationship, then standing by his best friend and claiming her child as his own, he stepped aside when the real father and also his friend came forward. A good guy who experienced betrayal not once, but twice.

Charlie is a woman on the run, who has experienced her fair share of tragedy and grief. She falls fast and hard for Tristan, even though she knows she shouldn’t. Tristan is so open to love and Charlie is terrified to let someone in.

As this is an ARC review, and I don’t want to risk any spoilers, I will say that Tristan is a man who deserves everything good in life. Charlie is a woman who deserves the same. As you read their story you hope they will find that with each other.

After reading Bella and Marco’s story in Tapping Out, I couldn’t wait for Nikki to give us Tristan’s, and she did him justice. He truly is one of the good guys. Clinched could have been a really heavy and emotional read, but Nikki kept it to a story of self discovery and finding your way to someone and something good. Another must read, as are all titles in the Fighting and Fighting Love series. Mason’s story: Takedown (Fighting Love 3), is up next.

While I think each series can be read independently of each other it’s much more fun to start at the beginning and read how each family intertwines.

Happy reading!
